JStew and KStew had the opportunity to interview Casey from Cosplay For A Cure at Niagara Falls Comic Con.

“A Canada-based group of friends that have come together to raise money and awareness about Breast Cancer through the fun setting of conventions!”

“We are a group of friends, and artists with have a love for cosplaying, and in June of 2012 a dear friend of ours and our community, Shannon Neprily, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer at age 30.

When she told us, an idea in the back of Casey Brown’s mind was instantly brought to life as Cosplay For A Cure. What is this? Cosplay For A Cure is a non-profit, photo booth style event run at comic book, sci-fi, gaming and anime conventions in the GTA and surrounding area. Why there? Because we are fans ourselves, and we are lucky enough to be part of a community spanning such an age range that we can effectively spread awareness about Breast Cancer and how it can affect so many people at any age. Our goal at our photo booth is to give convention-goers the opportunity to have their photo professionally taken with any or all of our costumed models, and printed for as little as $2. All money raised at our booth goes to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.”
