At the first anniversary of StudioComix Press we interviewed a wonderful actress named Marianthi Evans. She talked to us about her work in the film Max Payne and the video game Assassins Creed Odyssey.
On October the 3rd we journeyed up to Kitchener Waterloo to celebrate the one year anniversary Of StudioComix press. Our buddy Alfonso Espinos runs the store and does a lot for the independent comic book community. We were fortunate enough to record this show with Our friends Candy Cosplay and PPhoto, Jason Ward and Kyle Barnett from Tri City studio and the man of the hour himself, Alfonso.

At the Frightmare in the Falls event JStew and Sara J spoke with actor Tom Atkins. Mr Atkins has a tremendous body of work including Lethal Weapon and Escape from New York. He even has an action figure of himself being released soon. We had a wonderful time speaking to him about some of his key roles.
We were extremely honored to interview an actress that we have admired in so many movies and shows – Adrienne Barbeau. We were very happy to get the chance to talk to her bout her various projects including Swamp Thing, Batman the animated series and of course Escape from New York. It was a pleasure speaking with her and hope you enjoy listening to it.

JStew and Sara J once again attended Hamilton Comic Con. On this episode we spoke with our cosplayer friends Candy Cosplay, Loki-Quinn Cosplay, PPhoto and Alex Rose. We also chatted with Alfonso from Studio Comix who had an exciting announcement for us.
At this years Hamilton Comic Con we were lucky enough to speak with actor Bernard Robichaud. He is known for playing Cyrus on The Trailer Park boys and Kirk on Haven. We discussed how he got into acting as well as his roles.
This year at the Cambridge Comic Arts festival we were reunited with former agent and now writer of the comic Penny Steele – Darryl Joseph. Joining us with fart gun in hand was Gru himself.
At this years Cambridge Comic Arts festival JStew met Alaire and Toben Racicot and spoke to them about their amazing comic book work.
For the fourth year in a row we were honored to be guests at The Cambridge Comic Arts Festival. Thank you Alfonso Espinos for having us there and for putting on a wonderful show. This week JStew is joined by his friend of 36 years John Merry as they travel to see a concert by Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of the Monkees. They talk about how they got into their music and on the way home they review the show. John also sits in for the geek calendar. also on the show – this week we received word that the Geekery restaurant had closed. Once again we answered the call to come help out a wonderful charity – Jace Wars. It was our 6th time there and we were proud to depart of it. A big round of applause to Aaron Russell for once again doing a terrific job. Joining us this time out was our buddy Jason Clark from the podcast An Elegant Weapon. Joining us for this segment was some of our favorite people – Candy Cosplay, Loki Quinn Cosplay, Gru and Amazon Princess. We also met some new friends Messiah Complex Cosplay and Alicia. One of our big highlights at NF Comicon this year was meeting DiVinica artist Dawn McTeigue. she recently did a beautiful cover for the upcoming Batman issue 50 in which Batman marries Cat Woman. We learned about how she broke into comics and found out about the series DiVinica. JStew was also lucky enough to have been the moderator at her panel. We all became instant big fans of her work. We would also like to thank our friend Stacey Clarke for taking the photos at the panel.

This past weekend – June 2nd and 3rd – We attended Niagara Falls Comic Con. this year was kind of special as JStew was asked to moderate four panels. In between that we managed to record with some of our friends to make sure our new weekly show got out. Joining us this week are Jason Ward from Tri City Studio, Leslie Doyle. Alfonso from StudioComix and a return visit from the Hunters. we chatted a bit about Wonder Woman and Andrew Lincoln leaving the Walking Dead and of course there is our geek calendar.

While we were at Toronto Comicon we were able to interview a terrific cosplayer named ShadowStorm Cosplay. She was dressed as Rey from Star Wars but she also has a wide variety of amazing costumes. Her Rocket Raccoon is so great that she was asked to appear at the Canadian premiere of Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 2 with Michael Rooker himself. We talked with her about her craft and the creation of her cosplays.

On February 18th the We Got The Geek podcast reached a milestone – we celebrated our five year anniversary.We have come a long way since 2013 and we were feeling very proud of the work that we have done. JStew, Sara J and Sarah WaterRaven got together to remember some good times – that was followed by a trip to Toronto Comicon where they were joined by some friends of the show – Dr Stevil, Alfonso from StudioComix, Mz Hyde Cosplay and Candy Cosplay,PPhoto and Loki Quinn Cosplay. Also – continuing a tradition that started in 2017 we inducted Loki Quinn Cosplay and Dr Stevil into the We Got The Geek hall of fame. thanks to everyone out there for coming along for the ride and sharing our journey with us
At Toronto Comicon JStew and Sara J had the honor of speaking with actor John Wesley Shipp. Mr Shipp played the lead role on The Flash from 1990 to 1991 and Henry Allen and Jay Garrick on the current Flash series on The CW. We talked about the differences in working on both series and what it’s been like working with Grant Gustin and Mark Hamill. We wanted to thank him for the wonderful interview and being the nicest guy we ever recorded with. Thanks also to the folks of Toronto Comicon for setting this up.

At a recent con – our friend Alfonso unveiled a calendar for 2018 that Studio Comix had put together. its a wonderful calendar that features the talent of the following cos players – Candy Cosplay, AngelicLuka Cosplay, The Lauryn Show, Loki – Quinn cosplay and Shadow Storm Cosplay. Most of those cosplayers and Alfonso were on hand to talk about their project with JStew , Sara J and WaterRaven. There is also a guest appearance from Gru himself. As an added bonus this was our 650th segment. We were so proud that we did this one with so many of our favorite people.
This year our halloween was jam packed. We spent the afternoon at the wonderful Sketchbook Comics. Included on this recording are two segments from the store – featuring a talk with store owner Geoff about comics and movies. In between those two segments is a quick piece we did at the geekery with Sarah WaterRaven and Candy Cosplay and the mighty Josh that same day at a very successful cosplay contest that we hosted. Recently our local comic book shop – Mostly Comics – had a celebration. A new owner – Norm had taken over and the store had a party to introduce him. Many great guests showed up. The event was organized by Dave Bennison. We spoke with Dave as well as some old friends Candy Cosplay, AngelicLuka Cosplay, Alfonso from Sketchbook Comics and Dr Stevil. It was a fantastic day and we certainly appreciated being included.

JStew and Sara J were extremely happy to attend a panel for the upcoming animated film – Todd and the Book of Pure Evil: The End Of the End. Following the panel we were invited to talk one on one with one of the stars of the film – Jason Mewes. We had been fans of this man’s work since seeing the film Clerks in 1994. We spoke about the new animated films and brought up his love of comics.
At Fan Expo JStew and Sara J were excited to attend the panel for the new animated feature – Todd and The Book Of Pure Evil :The End Of The End. Following the panel we were invited to interview two of the stars of the movie – Alex House who played Todd and Bill Turnbull who played Curtis. It was one of the best interview experiences that we have ever had. We spoke about the animated feature as well what it was like working with Jason Mewes.

On a lovely August evening the entire We Got The Geek Team met up at the top secret underground WaterRaven headquarters. Their mission? To chat about all things geek. We found out about what each team member geeks out about. The conversation also included Sharknado, The Defenders and the lost Whoopie Goldberg Gem – Theodore Rex.
Recently we convened at the secret underground WaterRaven home to review the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic universe – Spider-Man Homecoming. The whole team took part – JStew, Sara J, Wonder Librarian , Sarah WaterRaven and Josh. The discussion also included some thoughts on the original Spider-man films as well.
Previously on We Got The Geek we said goodbye to Kim and Cheryl and Bev as they headed off on a new adventure. Now we’d like to introduce you to Norm, a life long Comic fan who has taken over as the new store owner. We asked him what changes might be coming to the store and about some of his favorite titles
Mostly Comics has been a comic book store in some shape of form since 1980. For the last 17 years the store has been run by our friends, Kim and Sheryl and Bev. They have been extremely good to us over the years. We’ve been asked to take part in free Comic book day and the grand re-opening and they even got us our interview with legendary artist – Neal Adams. Well they have decided to sell the store and go on a different journey. They will definitely be missed. A new owner will take over on August the first. JStew and Sara J had a chance to talk to Kim at his going away party as he prepares to go off into the great wide open

This year at NFCC – JStew and Sara J were extremely happy to interview actor Jeremy London. Mr London has had a lot of great roles in his career including TS from Kevin Smith’s 1995 film Mallrats. We spoke about working on Mallrats, Canada, people confusing him with his twin brother and his recent appearance on Macgyver.
We were so happy that one of our favorite people – The lovely and talented Jen Frankel was able to join us for our recent mini con. We spoke about her different ventures and Stew finally finds out that she is a comic book fan! So wonderful to have her on the show again!

A few months ago at the Geekery Restaurant we helped put on an artist spotlight. Basically it was an artist alley type show with fantastic artists. The whole team made the rounds and spoke to some of the wonderful people there – Kiara Cons, Marvin Law and Cassandra Serrani
In 1996, after a 7 year absence on television, a new actor stepped into the role of The Doctor – Mr Paul McGann. A new Doctor Who movie debuted with McGann portraying the 8th version of the character. This was also JStew’s first exposure to the Doctor. In 2013 McGann returned to the role just in time for the shows 50th anniversary. At Niagara Falls Comic con, Stew and Sara J were honored to speak with him. It is true – You never forget your first Doctor.
Back in 1994, a young chicken cook/future podcaster was introduced to the View askewniverse via a fantastic film by Kevin Smith called Clerks. JStew became an instant fan. Fast forward 23 years later and JStew and Sara J were honored to interview Dante Hicks himself – actor Brian O’ Halloran at the Niagara Falls comic con. We talked about Clerks,Canada, and a sequel to his film vulgar. It’s always great when you meet your favorite celebrities and they turn out to be super nice. Thank you to Brian for his time.

Recently we threw our latest Geekery C0n It was a tie in to Guardians Of The Galaxy volume 2 so we cleverly named it – Guardians of The Geekery Con. All the cosplayers came in Guardians inspired costumes. At one point during the con JStew, Sara J, WonderLibrarian and Sarah WaterRaven recorded at a roundtable with a group of cosplayers. Recently at the Geekery Restaurant we had an artists spotlight. We invited a bunch of talented artists to the restaurant and transformed it into an artist alley. At Frost Con JStew and Sara J spoke with a fantastic Deadpool Cosplayer named D Piddy. He has a wonderful You Tube channel in which he interacts with fans and other cosplayers. We sat down to talk to him about his career and his love of the character

This year we were invited back to Toronto Comic Con. When we arrived at the show, 0ur friend Candy Cosplay told us about a fantastic Cosplayer we should speak with. We soon met and interviewed a lovely and talented young lady named Violet Love who was rocking a Cat Woman costume. We chatted for a few minutes and even gave her some questions from our Geek survey. Every year the first Saturday of May is a glorious day celebrated at most comic book stores – Free Comic Book Day. This Year JStew, Sara J and WonderLibrarian were invites to Sketchbook comics in St Catharines. We got to chat to a lot of great cosplayers about comics and Guardians of The Galaxy. Thank you to Geoff for inviting us to his store this year – we had so much fun

On February 18th it was our 4th anniversary of being a podcast.Its been an amazing four years meeting all kinds of amazing people and going to a lot of great shows. In March JStew, Sara J, WonderLibrarian and Sarah WaterRaven celebrated the podcast’s birthday at the Canadian Toycon. It was a Harry Potter themed event so a lot of our friends were cosplaying characters from the Potter Universe. We had cake and cupcakes and had a fantastic day. We also made Candy Cosplay, Mz Hyde Cosplay and The Lauryn show honorary members of We Got The Geek. Take a listen to some of the highlights from our special day.
