At the first ever Geekery Con, JStew interviewed an up and coming new cosplayer Charlene a.k.a Misfit Sue. We learned about some of her cosplays and things she geeks out about. So we got to plan a mini con recently. A lot of the guests were friends we had made over the last three years of pod casting. We did meet some new people as well. On September 19th we held the first official Geekery Con. One of the guests was our good friend Alfonso Espinos from StudioComix. We were touched that he made the time to come to our new show. Alfonso is one of the hardest working guys we know. He’s always on the go and always promotes his books at pretty much every con in the area. We had originally met him a couple of months after We Got The Geek was formed and he has always been good to us. JStew sat down with him for interview #14.

A couple of weekends ago We Got The Geek and Doin’ It Geek teamed up to present to the public – Geekery Con. Many of the guests were people and friends we had met over the years while doing the podcast. One of those friends we had actually met at the event where we first had a table – Art O Con. At Fan Expo JStew was very lucky to get two minutes of the great Tara Strong’s time. Tara Strong is a fantastic voice actor who has worked on such classic shows as The Power Ppff Girls and My Little Pony. The reason the interview is so quick is because as we were speaking,the line to meet her got huge. We didn’t want to take up all her time so we asked what we could. She was so nice and we appreciate the interview
A few months ago at Con Bravo we met a really cool cosplayer named Mai Sheri. JStew struck up a conversation with her because she was dressed as Hawkeye Kate Bishop. Not once did it occur to him to ask for an interview. Luckily We were able to talk to her at Fan Expo. We spoke about cosplay and of course Hawkeye. Agent Darryl and JStew were honored to speak with Ty Templeton. During his career he’s worked on everything from Batman to Howard The Duck. Wait until you hear about the job he was most proudest of.
JStew finally got to interview a guy he’s admired for a few years – Toronto Batman. He first came to our attention in a video called Batman’s night out and we soon came to see this guy had something to say. Sadly he has set a retirement date but his legacy will live on. We spoke to him at Fan Expo about his career and retirement.

At Niagara falls Comic Con, Agent Darryl had the honor of interviewing the legendary Larry Hama. Mr Hama is best known for his long run as the writer of Gi Joe. He also had an excellent stint on Wolverine

At the Niagara Falls Comic Con JStew and KStew were honored to speak with the fantastic husband wife team of David and Meredith Finch. They are currently behind the amazing Wonder Woman series at DC Comics. We asked them what it was like working on the comic together and what made them decide to update Wonder Woman’s costume.
When we Got the Geek started , one of the first guys we interviewed was Jason Loo who was at a con as a member of the Toronto X-men. These days he’s writing a fantastic comic book called the Pitiful Human Lizard. We were lucky enough to score another interview with Jason at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. Not to long after this interview the Pitiful Human Lizard was picked up by Chapter House comics. We couldn’t be happier for Jason. Pick up an issue of his series,we guarantee you will love it!

This is our 400th segment! We knew this was coming up and we wanted to present something special. On July 4th We Got the Geek held a cosplay contest at the new awesome restaurant The Geekery. We had a great turnout and we were honored to be joined by so many great cosplayers. JStew, Ryan and Agent Darryl were on hand to interview returning guest Candy Cosplay and her best friend Lumen from Luminous Designs and Cosplay. They were both fantastic guests and posed for many pictures. We extend the Vulcan salute and tip the Indiana Jones fedora to them and thank them for all the help and promotion they have given us

April 2015 marks 35 years of Mostly comics opening in the Niagara Region. Back in 1980 it was opened as Len’s Odds and Ends and there was barely a comic in sight. All month long the store has been celebrating with Great sales. The festivities kicked off with a special day at the store featuring the mayor of St Catharines, Captain Canuck creator Richard Comely and cake. Thanks to Bev, Kim and Cheryl for having us there to cover the event. The following is some comments made that day from JStew, Ryan, John Bulmer, Diana and Bev. Here’s to 35 more years!
