Recently our local comic book shop – Mostly Comics – had a celebration. A new owner – Norm had taken over and the store had a party to introduce him. Many great guests showed up. The event was organized by Dave Bennison. We spoke with Dave as well as some old friends Candy Cosplay, AngelicLuka Cosplay, Alfonso from Sketchbook Comics and Dr Stevil. It was a fantastic day and we certainly appreciated being included.

JStew and Sara J were extremely happy to attend a panel for the upcoming animated film – Todd and the Book of Pure Evil: The End Of the End. Following the panel we were invited to talk one on one with one of the stars of the film – Jason Mewes. We had been fans of this man’s work since seeing the film Clerks in 1994. We spoke about the new animated films and brought up his love of comics.
At Fan Expo JStew and Sara J were excited to attend the panel for the new animated feature – Todd and The Book Of Pure Evil :The End Of The End. Following the panel we were invited to interview two of the stars of the movie – Alex House who played Todd and Bill Turnbull who played Curtis. It was one of the best interview experiences that we have ever had. We spoke about the animated feature as well what it was like working with Jason Mewes.

Once again we were delighted to be guests at the Cambridge Comic arts Festival – a.k.a. JStew’s favorite show of the year. The architect of the show was our old buddy Alfonso Espinos. Recently we convened at the secret underground WaterRaven home to review the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic universe – Spider-Man Homecoming. The whole team took part – JStew, Sara J, Wonder Librarian , Sarah WaterRaven and Josh. The discussion also included some thoughts on the original Spider-man films as well.
Previously on We Got The Geek we said goodbye to Kim and Cheryl and Bev as they headed off on a new adventure. Now we’d like to introduce you to Norm, a life long Comic fan who has taken over as the new store owner. We asked him what changes might be coming to the store and about some of his favorite titles
Mostly Comics has been a comic book store in some shape of form since 1980. For the last 17 years the store has been run by our friends, Kim and Sheryl and Bev. They have been extremely good to us over the years. We’ve been asked to take part in free Comic book day and the grand re-opening and they even got us our interview with legendary artist – Neal Adams. Well they have decided to sell the store and go on a different journey. They will definitely be missed. A new owner will take over on August the first. JStew and Sara J had a chance to talk to Kim at his going away party as he prepares to go off into the great wide open

This year at NFCC – JStew and Sara J were extremely happy to interview actor Jeremy London. Mr London has had a lot of great roles in his career including TS from Kevin Smith’s 1995 film Mallrats. We spoke about working on Mallrats, Canada, people confusing him with his twin brother and his recent appearance on Macgyver.
We were so happy that one of our favorite people – The lovely and talented Jen Frankel was able to join us for our recent mini con. We spoke about her different ventures and Stew finally finds out that she is a comic book fan! So wonderful to have her on the show again!

A few months ago at the Geekery Restaurant we helped put on an artist spotlight. Basically it was an artist alley type show with fantastic artists. The whole team made the rounds and spoke to some of the wonderful people there – Kiara Cons, Marvin Law and Cassandra Serrani

Back in 1994, a young chicken cook/future podcaster was introduced to the View askewniverse via a fantastic film by Kevin Smith called Clerks. JStew became an instant fan. Fast forward 23 years later and JStew and Sara J were honored to interview Dante Hicks himself – actor Brian O’ Halloran at the Niagara Falls comic con. We talked about Clerks,Canada, and a sequel to his film vulgar. It’s always great when you meet your favorite celebrities and they turn out to be super nice. Thank you to Brian for his time.

Recently we threw our latest Geekery C0n It was a tie in to Guardians Of The Galaxy volume 2 so we cleverly named it – Guardians of The Geekery Con. Every year the first Saturday of May is a glorious day celebrated at most comic book stores – Free Comic Book Day. On February 18th it was our 4th anniversary of being a podcast.Its been an amazing four years meeting all kinds of amazing people and going to a lot of great shows. In March JStew, Sara J, WonderLibrarian and Sarah WaterRaven celebrated the podcast’s birthday at the Canadian Toycon. It was a Harry Potter themed event so a lot of our friends were cosplaying characters from the Potter Universe. We had cake and cupcakes and had a fantastic day. This past February we were truly honored to speak with an amazing artist – Tony Harris at the Toronto Comic Con. My Harris has drawn a lot of great books – JSA Liberty Files, Ex Machina and JStew’s favorite comic series of all time Star Man. Recently he was reunited with his former Star Man writer James Robinson on the C3-P0 one shot for Marvel comics. We spoke a little about that project and some of the wonderful things he got to experience once the book was out.

Back in April the whole gang travelled by train to see an awesome documentary about Canadian comic books called Heroes Manufactured. The film featured many of our friends including the great Alfonso Espinos. On the way back, Stew, Sara J , WonderLibrarian and Sarah WaterRaven discuss the film and other subjects such as Spiderman, Terry Crews and Fish. Roughly a year ago at a toy show we met Heather a.k.a. PPhoto. At the time she was dressed as Kylo Ren from Star Wars. Our paths crossed a few times over the next year. At Christmas she hosted our Christmas cosplayer dressed as Effie from The Hunger Games. Along came the Frost Con Event and she was there as a member of a group of very talented cosplayers. On the second day of the con they were dressed as the Avengers – Heather herself was an awesome Captain America. Enough was enough – it was time for an interview. JStew and Sara J to her talked about her various cosplays, her love of Doctor Who and a lot of other great topics. We will announce right here for the first time that she will be a guest at the upcoming Guardians OF The Geekery . We are very happy to have her.

On December 15th the force was strong with we Got The Geek. Our good friend Steve Buckley – the nice man that runs The GTA Comic Con gave us some passes to see the new Star Wars film – Rogue One, Following the movie we got together with some of our Cosplayer friends in the lobby to discus the movie for a few minutes. If you haven’t seen the movie yet -There are a few spoilers.
The team behind the Batgirl comic is back. At Mostly Comics, JStew got a chance to speak to Brenden Fletcher and Cameron Stewart about their latest project for Image comics – Motor Crush.They also talked about what it was like working on an iconic character like Batgirl.
On November 5th we took part in Hamilton Film Expo 2: Expo Harder at The Digital Canaries Film Studio. It was a fantastic experience – we got to take a great tour of the studio and made some new friends. We were able to talk to the architect of the event – Nathan Fleet about the show and even got some Star Wars talk in as well. A huge thank you to Nathan for having us back, we had an awesome time.

November 12th was a fantastic day for We Got The Geek. Our Rogue One Geekery Con was a success and we spent the day with some wonderful people. We were thrilled that one of our featured guests was the great Monica Zelak. We already knew that Monica was an awesome cosplayer but this time out we found out what a terrific actress she is as well. She starred in an online feature called The Gamers Natural One which JStew absolutely loved. Wonder Librarian and JStew spoke to Monica about a wide variety of subjects including Star Wars and Harry Potter. At this years Art – O – Con event it was a full house as JStew, Sara J and The Wonder Librarian interviewed Toby (Sailor Moon) Proctor and Ivan (Inspector Gadget) Sherry. At Art O Con JStew and Sara J were happy to speak with Mitch Marcowitz. Mitch was one of the architects behind the great show The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein which aired on ch ch in the 1970’s. The show became a cult hit and starred the legendary Vincent Price, Billy Van and Mitch himself who played Super Hippy. Mitch was in attendance to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the show and even shared cake with everyone. We were honored that he took time to speak with us. We learned some interesting facts about the production of the show and learned of his future plans as well.
On Sunday October 23rd 2016 we were honored to return to the place where it all started for us – Art-0-Con. Our good friends Lara and Paul out did themselves with a fantastic show that included talented artists,awesome voice actors, Daleks and Cosplayers. So many of our friends were in attendance with tables and awesome works of art. Hey everybody – coming up on Sunday October 23rd at the Holiday Inn in Burlington is a very special show called Art-O-Con. This show means a lot to us. Way back in 2013 we were guests at the last show, it was our first con as We Got The Geek and we made lots of lifelong friendships. We sincerely hope you come check this out. Recently JStew, Sara J and Wonder Librarian attended the Cambridge Comic Arts Festival. It wasthe second year in a row that We Got The Geek was a guest. We had our own table set up and attempted some questions with random people. We were so busy that we only got a little bit of that in. We did have a nice conversation with our buddy Symbiote Spider Man and Supergirl. We had a great time that day. We saw so may of our friends and we owe a big thank you to Alfonso from Studio Comix for having us there. Here are the segments we recorded at our table–all spliced together. Enjoy
Alfonso has been a good friend to us over the years. He’s a big part of our geek family – This is his 23rd appearance on the podcast. For the last few years he has put together The Cambridge Comic Arts Festival. It’s a great event made up of awesome artists and fantastic cosplayers. For the second year in a row we were invited there as guests as well – we were very proud to be there. In this interview Alfonso tells JStew and Wonder Librarian how it all came together. We had a great day and are already looking forward to next years show.
At Fan Expo, we were very lucky to meet and interview writer/artist and creator of The Beauty at Image Comics – Jeremy Haun. Beginning in 2002, Mr Haun worked for Image Comics, IDW Publishing, Oni Press, Devil’s Due Publishing, Top Cow, and Marvel Comics and DC Comics. JStew, Sara and Geoff spoke to him about The Beauty and terrible horror movies. Thanks go out to Jeremy for such a great interview and for Geoff for helping to set it up.
We continue our Cambridge Comic arts festival coverage with a talented guy we had seen at other shows over the years – Nik Zezos. We had seen him at Jace Wars events over the years and had always dug his art. JStew and Wonder Librarian asked him about his work and even found out the first thing he ever drew.
At This years Fan Expo event – we spoke with a fantastic artist and a you tube producer by the name of ALB. We spoke to her about her you tube channels and what she likes to geek out over. We even got in a little discussion about the show Friends. She was really nice to chat with and we definitely appreciated her time.

We were guests at the awesome Cambridge Comic Arts festival, A lot of our wonderful artist friends were there including Stephany Lein and Sam Noir. They were there to promote their brand new comic book Skelt and Apy. It’s a fantastic book and they told JStew and Wonder Librarian all about it.

At Fan Expo we were honored to interview cosplayer extraordinaire – Ivy Doomkitty, JStew had been a fan for a few years–ever since he had seen her Rocketeer costume. He and Sara J asked her how she got started in the world of cosplay and was told a moving story. They also chatted about Stan Lee and Canada. She was so nice to us and to her we say thank you. This year we were honored to be asked back as guests at the Cambridge Comic Arts festival. A lot of our friends and favorite artists were there. One of the guests was an amazing artist we met last year at the Geekery – Mr A. Shay Hahn. He is the creator of the comic The Homeless G-Men and is about to launch a new project Rumblewatch. He has also had his work featured on the show Orphan Black. It’s always a pleasure to talk to him and we hope you enjoy this new interview.

At Con Bravo, JStew and Sara spoke with You Tube producer Calluna. Currently she has four active video series: Screen Shots,Backlog Heroes, I See What You Did There, a more and her Sailor Moon retrospective series, Make Up!, where she takes a look at all the different forms of Sailor Moon media. We spoke to her about her love for Sailor Moon and found out how she got her start.

A few weeks ago JStew got to see his very good friend Scott for the first time in 8 years, Scott lives in England and was visiting Canada with his family. After a nice dinner at the Geekery restaurant – Scott was given a geek survey. Here’s what he had to say
At Con Bravo, JStew and Denielle met animator/illustrator Temmie Chang. She is a game designer, who worked on the indie RPG Undertale. She also appeared in the game as a character. JStew’s daughter Diana was a big fan of the game and was excited to meet Miss Chang. Afterwards we even visited her table and picked up some original artwork. Enjoy!
At this years Con Bravo, we were very honored and happy to speak with a lovely and talented actress named Cynthia Preston. Some of her credits include the film Carrie , a stint on General Hospital and an amazing guest appearance on the show Lost Girl. JStew and Denielle spoke with her about some of her career highlights.
At the NF Comic Con – Agent Darryl and JStew spoke with artist Geof Isherwood. From comic books, to concept art, to storyboards, he has been working as an illustrator for 30 years. Mr Isherwood has done memorable runs on Dr Strange and Suicide Squad which are both getting the big screen treatment this year. Take a listen to this fascinating conversation.
At the recent Car show in down town St Catharines – JStew and Wonder Librarian spoke with the dark knight–Brampton Batman. We chatted about his awesome Bat mobile and tried to get more info from him. We did find out about other Bat toys he has and who his favorite Batman actor is. He was also kind enough to judge a cosplay contest with JStew and Ryan from RATG Radio.
